Novant Health brings new surgeon to Brunswick County

BOLIVIA, N.C. September 14, 2017 – On Aug. 1, general surgeon Dr. J. Andrew Smith joined Novant Health Surgical Associates. Novant Health Surgical Associates has offices located in Bolivia, Leland, Carolina Shores and Southport.

In addition to general surgery, Smith’s scope of practice includes vascular procedures. In the coming months, he will offer vein procedures, including the treatment of varicose veins, in the Novant Health Surgical Associates clinic as well as at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center.

“I am delighted to join the Novant Health team and look forward to serving Brunswick County and the surrounding communities,” Smith said.

Smith earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and completed medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis. He then went on to complete residency in general surgery at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. Before coming to Novant Health, Smith worked for Carolinas HealthCare System at Shelby Surgical Associates and was an attending surgeon at Carolinas HealthCare System – Cleveland.
